The Witcher 4: Ciri as the New Protagonist
The CD Projekt RED released the first trailer of The Witcher 4 during The Game Awards 2024, revealing that Ciri will be the new protagonist of the saga.
Using his account on the X platform, the studio’s CEO – Michał Nowakowski – provided additional information about the game, revealing that many people working on it come from The Witcher 3.
“The Witcher 3 turns 10 in May. About 100 of its programmers are working with us on our new projects, including The Witcher IV. Some are actually veterans of The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 1, including my esteemed co-CEO, Adam Badowski, who has been with the series since its inception in 2002,” he says.
Additionally, Nowakowski announced that the lead narrative director of the new game in the saga is the same as The Witcher 1. “The main narrative director is the same person since Witcher 1. The main vision holder is the same person since Witcher 1,” he continues.
Public Reception and Production by Veterans
It’s worth noting that the first trailer of The Witcher 4 was not entirely well-received by the public, and we will see if the fact that the game is being produced by veterans changes that picture.
