The folks over at Larian Studios have opened up about why they chose not to release any expansions for the hugely successful Baldur’s Gate 3. Despite the game receiving numerous updates with improvements and new content, the team decided against a large-scale DLC. Swen Vincke, the head honcho at the Belgian studio, recently chatted with Gamespot to discuss their approach to Baldur’s Gate 3 and the reasoning behind the lack of DLC.
Vincke explained that the initial idea of churning out DLCs just didn’t sit right with them. While the industry norm may be to release DLC after DLC to rake in the cash, Larian felt that this approach would be, well, boring. Instead of following the crowd, the team decided to focus on perfecting Baldur’s Gate 3 and shift their attention to a top-secret project that’s in the works.
So, for now, Larian is busy ironing out any kinks in Baldur’s Gate 3 while gearing up for their next big venture.
