Sony has recently introduced the FlexStrike, their very first wireless arcade controller designed specifically for fighting games and compatible with PlayStation 5 and PC. Previously known as Project Defiant, this accessory is set to hit the shelves in 2026 and will be showcased during the EVO 2025 tournament in Las Vegas from August 1 to 3.
The FlexStrike stands out for its support of PlayStation Link technology, which allows for low-latency wireless connectivity. This technology also enables users to simultaneously connect headphones like Pulse Elite or Pulse Explore with just one USB adapter. Additionally, it allows for pairing two FlexStrike controllers for some intense two-player gaming action on the same console.
Featuring buttons with mechanical switches, a custom digital lever, and an ergonomic design with a non-slip base, the FlexStrike provides users with access to three types of restrictors – square, circular, and octagonal – that can be easily changed without the need for any tools. It also includes a lock button to prevent accidental touches during gameplay, as well as a switch to change lever input modes.
The controller can be connected via a USB-C cable or used wirelessly with a built-in rechargeable battery, although details regarding its battery life have not yet been disclosed by Sony. The accessory also comes with a convenient carrying case with a handle for easy storage of the controller and its components.
Those attending EVO 2025 will have the opportunity to check out the FlexStrike at the Fight Stick Museum and the Arc System Works area. Stay tuned for updates on the price of this exciting new accessory!
