Update – August 23
The Does it Play group of gamers dedicated to discovering whether physical versions of games include all content or if it’s possible to play offline, has found new details about the PlayStation 5 version of Gears of War Reloaded.
By gaining early access to a physical copy of the European version of the game, Does it Play discovered that Gears of War Reloaded includes the campaign on the disc, making it possible to play this content offline without the need for an internet connection.
However, all other content requires an update or online connection to be played, suggesting that the multiplayer mode is not present on the disc and requires an update.
Original – August 21
Gears of War: Reloaded for the PlayStation 5 will receive a physical version, but contrary to previous reports, an internet connection will be required to start playing the game, at least the first time you insert the disc into the console.
The French cover of Gears of War: Reloaded for the PS5 informs the consumer that a content download is necessary, confirming that the game is not fully on the disc, unlike what was suggested earlier by unofficial sources.
In addition to stating that Gears of War: Reloaded is fully localized for French, the cover prominently lists that buyers of the physical edition will need to download content when they get home and insert the disc into the console. This will certainly leave collectors scratching their heads and questioning their purchase.
