Impact of SAG-AFTRA Strike on Grand Theft Auto 6
The ongoing strike initiated by SAG-AFTRA against major video game companies is not expected to affect the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, according to recent clarifications provided by the union.
Reassurance Amidst Concerns
Among the companies targeted by the strike is Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, the studio behind GTA 6. While this could potentially pose challenges for voice recordings and cutscenes, it has been clarified that the strike will not disrupt the game’s development.
A union representative informed Kotaku’s Ethan Gach that actors currently involved in projects with the affected companies are able to continue their work. This ensures that no delays are expected in productions where voice recordings are yet to be completed.
Speculation and Expectations
Following the strike announcement, some fans of GTA 6 expressed concerns about possible delays in the game’s release. This led to increased interest in the actors involved in the project, although Rockstar has not provided any official statements on the matter.
Despite the anticipation surrounding GTA 6, particularly after the release of its first trailer, a former Rockstar Games employee has voiced skepticism about the game’s potential to deliver a significant technological leap beyond previous titles, suggesting that some fans may be disappointed upon its launch.
