The Continuation of Berserk: Mori’s Attempt to Honor Miura’s Vision
Since the passing of Kentaro Miura in 2021, his friend Kouji Mori has taken on the responsibility of continuing the manga Berserk, based on the plans they discussed over decades. Mori aims to bring Guts’ journey to a conclusion, where the protagonist will once again confront disturbing and dark moments.
Mori’s Message on the Future of Berserk
In a recent message posted on the social network X, Mori hinted at the upcoming volumes of the manga and the narrative arc that lies ahead. He emphasized that the next chapters of Berserk will delve into some of the most disturbing moments in this dark fantasy world, similar to the challenges even Miura faced, especially during the creation of the Eclipse.
“The chapters in this volume and the next are really difficult because there are parts that Miura had difficulties with, just like he did with Eclipse. However, because of that, I think we were able to maintain the dialogues and scenes with high fidelity, as we discussed them dozens of times over the years. I hope you enjoy it.”
Anticipation for Intensity and Cruelty
Mori not only shed light on Miura’s struggles in envisioning these events but also commended the publisher Studio Gaga for their contribution to the project. He expressed his anxiety about the challenges they are currently facing, hinting at the intensity and cruelty that will be unveiled in the upcoming arc of Berserk.
With Eclipse being recognized as one of the most impactful moments in the manga, Mori’s suggestion that the next arc will match its level of intensity leaves fans eagerly anticipating brutal and unexpected developments in the story.
