The latest release from Leslie Benzies’ Build a Rocket Boy, MindsEye, is causing quite a stir with its performance issues and graphic errors. Digital Foundry describes the current state of the game as a “disaster.” John Linneman, after playing on PC and PlayStation 5, describes MindsEye as a game that can be both good and horrible at the same time, entertaining with some ideas but disappointing with others.
Performance is a major concern with MindsEye, with inconsistent frame rates, drops, and frame rate issues even though it targets 30fps. The game struggles to maintain this target on both PC and PS5 Pro, leading to a frustrating experience for players.
Digital Foundry compares MindsEye to an alpha version that shouldn’t be played yet, noting that the game feels unfinished and not ready for release. Despite being set in an open world similar to Mafia, MindsEye doesn’t quite deliver a GTA-like experience and is currently in a “shocking” state.
The average player rating for MindsEye on Steam keeps dropping, currently standing at 38%, reflecting the ongoing issues highlighted by Digital Foundry. Players continue to face unstable frame rates, poor frame times, and numerous graphic errors while playing the game.
