The MLB’s Strategic Approach towards Japanese Talent Acquisition
The Major League Baseball (MLB) has been strategically focusing on recruiting Japanese talent, particularly in light of Shohei Ohtani’s remarkable journey to establish himself as one of the premier baseball players in history. Ohtani’s success has not only garnered attention worldwide but has also inspired a growing number of Japanese players to aspire to compete in the United States.
MLB Collaborates with Aniplex and Ufotable for “MLB x Demon Slayer” Short Anime
In a bid to celebrate the increasing presence of Japanese players in the MLB and the upcoming games in Tokyo, as part of the MLB World Tour 2025, the MLB has joined forces with Aniplex and Ufotable to produce a short anime series titled “MLB x Demon Slayer.” This unique anime venture intertwines the realms of baseball with that of demon hunters.
The anime showcases animated versions of players from the Dodgers and Cubs, alongside characters from Demon Slayer. The narrative culminates in a crossover of the two universes, featuring Ohtani wielding his bat infused with Tanjiro’s water breathing technique, poised to deliver a powerful hit.
Moreover, this short film serves as a promotional platform for the US release of the movie “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle” on September 12, 2025, following its premiere in Portuguese cinemas just a day prior.
