Naoki Yoshida appeals against insults in the video game industry
The producer of Final Fantasy 14, Naoki Yoshida, recently made an appeal to the gaming community, asking them to avoid insulting game development teams. He emphasized that constructive criticism is welcome, but personal attacks can harm the morale of the employees.
Positive and negative feedback are important, but with respect
During PAX West, Yoshida highlighted the importance of receiving feedback from fans, whether positive or negative. He stressed the value of objectivity in criticism to be able to improve, but pointed out the difficulty in dealing with non-constructive criticism, which can deeply affect the workers in the gaming industry.
“There is a person behind the games you love. If you have criticism, let it be constructive. Harsh words can affect the morale of employees and even drive them away from the industry,” Yoshida stated, emphasizing the importance of respect in interactions between players and developers.
