Nintendo and Genki kiss and make up after Switch 2 drama
Remember when Nintendo got all bent out of shape because Genki spilled the beans on the Switch 2 a little too early? Well, it looks like the two companies have buried the hatchet and settled their differences. The whole shebang started back in May 2025, when Nintendo accused Genki of playing dirty by showing off accessories for the Switch 2 before it was even officially announced.
The real kicker was when Genki trotted out a 3D mock-up of the Switch 2 at CES in January 2025, complete with the Nintendo logo, just days before the big reveal. They even had the nerve to hype up accessories with fancy names like Genki Direct and Glitch 2, which Nintendo wasn’t too thrilled about.
Fast forward to today, and Genki has agreed to fork over some cash to Nintendo to make amends. Plus, they’ve promised not to pull any more shenanigans with logos, names, or colors that could be mistaken for Nintendo’s. That means no more Glitch, no more Genki Direct, and definitely no more color combos like red and white, blue and yellow, or any of the other ones on Nintendo’s no-no list.
