PlayStation 5 Digital Edition receives new revision with 825 GB of storage
The latest revision of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, with the model CFI-2100, is set to arrive in Europe on September 13, 2025. This version brings a significant change compared to the previous model: internal storage has been reduced from 1 TB to 825 GB.
Cost reduction and impact on user experience
Certification documents and listings already indicate the change in storage capacity, with the packaging clearly showing the new storage amount. The decision to decrease the storage capacity in the Digital Edition version aims to reduce production costs, but it also directly impacts the user experience.
The difference in capacity becomes relevant for consumers, as the Digital Edition does not have a disc drive, which means that players will have to purchase a compatible drive separately to use physical games. This limitation can influence consumers’ purchasing decisions, considering the impact of reduced storage.
So far, information about these changes is based on documentation records, with no official communication from Sony. We will have to wait for more details about this new version of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.
