Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is a remaster of the classic PS1 game, a project from a team at Square Enix that was forced to recreate the game from scratch in the hope that it will be well received. This is intended to encourage new remakes in the series and even future new games.

Kazutoyo Maehiro, director of the remaster, confessed that he would like to have the opportunity to produce a remaster for Tactics Advance and A2, as well as create new Final Fantasy Tactics games. However, everything will depend on the success of this effort.
Maehiro told Inverse that anyone who plays these strategy RPGs can easily feel how fun they are, but it is still a niche genre, which means that this current effort will have to be successful to justify new investments in this series.
“If The Ivalice Chronicles is successful, that’s good for the fans. They can enjoy it, but at the same time, it shows the financial viability of the strategy RPG genre. This may eventually open doors to do something with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or A2, maybe even sequels and new games.”
