Sony discontinues PlayStation Stars loyalty program
Sony announced the discontinuation of the current version of the PlayStation Stars loyalty program, which was launched in 2022. As of May 21, 2025, new members will not be accepted, and current users who cancel their membership will not be able to rejoin this version of the program.
Changes and timeline for PlayStation Stars
The PlayStation Stars allowed players to earn points through purchases on the PlayStation Store and by completing specific campaigns. These points could be exchanged for funds in the PSN wallet, products in the store, and digital collectibles. However, Sony decided to discontinue this version of the program to reassess the activities that are most interesting to players and to keep up with industry trends.
Current members will still be able to earn points and digital collectibles until July 23, 2025. After that date, no new campaigns will be launched, and the program will permanently end on November 2, 2026. Some users have reported that the option to exchange points for store credit has been removed, although Sony has not officially confirmed this change.
Future plans for Sony’s loyalty program
Sony stated that they will continue to evaluate the program’s results and explore ways to enhance the player experience. There is currently no information regarding a possible new version of PlayStation Stars. It is recommended to use accumulated points before July 23, 2025, as after that date, it will not be possible to earn new points or participate in additional campaigns.
“We want to thank all our players for supporting PlayStation Stars since its launch in 2022. As we explore new ways to develop our loyalty program efforts for the future, we will continue to celebrate all our players through the various community activities we have planned. The programs we create are all inspired by you, and we look forward to providing you with new exciting experiences for many generations to come.”
