Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is one of the big releases of January and marks the series’ return to its 2D roots.
Recently, Game Informer had the opportunity to interview some of the people behind the game, including producer Abdelhak Elguess and director Mounir Radi. One of the most interesting moments of the interview was when Elguess said he wouldn’t make a game he wasn’t proud of.
“I didn’t want to make a Prince of Persia that I wasn’t proud of,” he said, also mentioning that having the right people available at the right time was an important factor. With the team assembled, it took some time to decide which direction the team wanted to take. Development began in 2019.
Challenges and Success
Regarding why a new Prince of Persia took so long to come to the market, Radi had this to say:
“I think you should ask [Ubisoft CEO] Yves Guillemot.” The article reveals that he doesn’t really have an answer to the question, but his happiness at finally being able to bring the series back is evident. Furthermore, The Lost Crown was not a task that came from Ubisoft, but was led by the team that Radi helped assemble for the game.
“It’s totally us. It’s not a command,” says Radi.
Release Date
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown arrives on January 15th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
