In July 2010, Capcom announced the game Street Fighter x Tekken, developed in partnership with Bandai Namco, which in turn announced the game Tekken x Street Fighter. However, unlike Street Fighter x Tekken, which was released in March 2012, Tekken x Street Fighter never saw the light of day. The cancellation, although not officially announced, is highly probable.
EVO 2023 brought a funny moment where Katsuhiro Harada, with the help of Yoshinori Ono, tried to revive the ghost of Tekken x Street Fighter. This comical moment during the Tekken 7 final brought laughter to the audience, who at one point seemed to even believe in a surprise announcement.
Accompanied by Michael Murray, one of the main designers in Tekken, Harada was discussing Tekken announcements before the final when Ono interrupted. A humorous scene followed, and when Ono started talking about Tekken x, Harada didn’t even let him finish and escorted him off the stage.
It’s a fun moment that will likely bring smiles to fans, but it also leaves them thinking about the Tekken x Street Fighter project that never came to fruition.
