The most recent layoffs have affected Don’t Nod Montreal, following the release of the second and final part of the game Lost Records: Bloom & Rage about three months ago. While the company has not officially announced the layoffs, several employees from Don’t Nod Montreal have taken to social media to share that they have lost their jobs. The exact number of layoffs remains unknown at this time.
Key creatives such as Laurent Dufrense from the technical team, Sandra Cormier head of quality control, and Mary Pouliot lead cinematic artist, were instrumental in the development of Lost Records. However, the decision to downsize the team in Montreal has not been clarified.
In April, Don’t Nod praised the performance of Lost Records for meeting sales expectations and securing a deal with Sony to debut the game on PlayStation Plus. Nonetheless, at the beginning of June, a reported 11% revenue drop attributed to games like Jusant and Banishers prompted a shift in focus away from ongoing projects.
