Remedy Entertainment has recently shared details about their work on enhancing Alan Wake 2 for the PlayStation 5 Pro. They have made improvements to both Quality and Performance modes, utilizing various features of the PS5 Pro to enhance the overall experience.
Quality Mode on the PS5 Pro now runs at 30fps with ray tracing, offering a sharper and noise-free image quality. The game is rendered at 2176×1224 and upscaled to 3840×2160 for compatible screens. However, ray tracing is not available in Quality Mode on the PS5.
On the other hand, Performance Mode on the PS5 Pro provides a higher resolution and more visual detail compared to the PS5. Running at 60fps, the game is rendered at 1538×864 and outputted to screens at 3849×2160, surpassing the 1440p resolution on the PS5.
Remedy conducted various tests with the PS5 Pro, focusing on improving image quality and sharpness by implementing technologies like PSSR. They found that increasing the internal rendering resolution is very demanding for hardware, so they concentrated on noise reduction and image sharpness instead.
The end result is a Performance Mode on the PS5 Pro that visually matches the Quality Mode on the PS5. To see more about these enhancements, check out the videos on YouTube: [Link to YouTube video 1] [Link to YouTube video 2].
