According to sources who have seen AMD documents, the portable PS6 from SIE can be placed in a dock to play connected to the TV, but can also be removed from the dock to play in portable mode, similar to the Nintendo Switch 2. The portable PS6 will run games natively and is more powerful than the PS5 when docked, featuring an AMD APU with 4 Zen 6c Cores and two others for system tasks. The PS6 will have 16 x RDNA 5 CUs GPU at 1.2GHz in portable mode and 1.65GHz when docked.
Since September 2024, rumors have been circulating about a new portable device from Sony, as part of their current collaborative efforts with AMD to develop a next-generation console compatible with software from the current generation of Sony consoles.
