The Ubisoft is planning to expand the Rainbow Six franchise with a tactical turn-based game that will take you to the Siege universe, but with a very different gameplay. According to Insider-Gaming, Ubisoft is developing this tactical Rainbow Six for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, aiming to release it within the next two years, but with no concrete date yet.
A New Perspective on Rainbow Six
Sources say that the game will unfold from an aerial perspective, similar to XCOM, allowing players to control Rainbow Six Siege operators with cinematic cutscenes between missions to continue the game’s narrative. Despite the new perspective and gameplay, this game will incorporate many of the ideas implemented in Rainbow Six Siege, with the need to choose various operators to penetrate enemy-protected buildings to complete objectives like rescuing hostages.
Exciting Partnership with Tencent
Ubisoft has established a new subsidiary with Tencent, which will be in charge of the Rainbow Six series, so this project will transition to the new company. However, an official announcement has not been made yet, so we will have to wait for more updates.
