Hollywood continues to pay attention to the video game industry, with several productions already in progress created from well-known names among gamers. Gears of War is one of them, one of the most desired, which after several years is still looking for a director.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, negotiations are currently underway for David Leitch, director of the film Fall Guy, to lead the efforts in adapting Gears of War, a project in which he would have the help of Kelly McCormick and her company 87North, along with The Coalition.
Previously, it was revealed that Jon Spaihts, responsible for the adaptation of Dune, was recruited to write the script, but now we have Leitch’s name being considered for the director’s position. However, Netflix has not officially confirmed this name yet.
In November 2022, Netflix revealed that they had acquired the rights to adapt Gears of War into a film, after several unsuccessful attempts. Since 2007, several companies have tried to adapt Gears of War into a film, but we have not seen that film yet.
