Sony Removes Sales Restrictions for Popular PC Games
Sony quietly lifted sales restrictions in several countries for four of its most popular PC games: God of War Ragnarök, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Helldivers 2. The change was discovered on SteamDB on June 13th, showing a significant reduction in regions where they were previously unavailable.
Controversy Surrounding Sony’s PC Policies
The change comes after months of controversy over Sony’s policies regarding PC, especially after the Helldivers 2 case, which was removed from sale in over 170 countries for requiring a PSN account, even in regions where the service was not available. Criticism of the decision forced the company to partially backtrack on the requirement.
Sony has shown signs of reevaluating its distribution and service strategies. Recently, Hideaki Nishino, president of the PlayStation division, stated that the company is willing to adjust the price of the PlayStation Plus service, suggesting a dynamic approach with the aim of maximizing profits.
