Stellar Blade 2, developed by the Korean studio Shift Up, is currently in production with ambitious plans that may result in a longer timeline than anticipated. It is possible that the game will be released in 2028 or 2029.
Enhancing the Narrative
Hyung-tae Kim from Shift Up recently revealed their efforts to enrich the narrative in Stellar Blade 2. In the first game, they had to limit the number of cutscenes due to production costs. Improving the narrative aspect is a priority for the team, as they had to exclude certain events from the game. Kim noted that while Stellar Blade has strong gameplay, the studio faced challenges in completing all the cutscenes, as Korean studios are not well-versed in creating narrative-focused cinematic games. As a result, various cutscenes, including those exploring the game world and secondary characters, were omitted from Stellar Blade.
Expanding the Storyline
Although story DLC was cut from the first game, those ideas will be integrated into Stellar Blade 2 to create a more immersive narrative experience for players. Shift Up is currently focused on addressing issues with the PC version and releasing the DLC before transitioning to full development of Stellar Blade 2. The team aims for a 2027 release, although Kim recognizes the challenges in achieving this timeline. Quality is a top priority for Shift Up in order to strengthen the franchise.
