Tekken 8: A Visual Marvel
Over the past few weeks, I have spent a lot of time playing Tekken 8, a series that I have loved immensely since I was a child and grew up with. It is with great pleasure that I play this title with the sweet taste of being in front of the best title in the series since Tekken 5, considered one of the best, perhaps the best in the series, alongside Tekken 3. The era of the PS3 and Xbox 360 was a bit strange for Tekken, at least I feel that way, but Tekken 7 positioned it in a good direction and now, Tekken 8 manages to reach where Katsuhiro Harada and his team desired.
Visuals and Gameplay in Tekken 8
Regardless of what you think of Tekken as a series, or even if you don’t like fighting games, Tekken 8 is a visually fabulous game. Produced only for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, the improvements over what was possible to achieve when the previous generation was still involved in development are noticeable.
Tekken 8 is visually stunning and one of the best games to showcase on your new 4K HDR TV, capable of marveling anyone. Not all moments in the game, scenes, or angles will be perfect and immaculate, but overall and 99% of the time, the team at Bandai Namco deserves congratulations and applause for the use of the Unreal Engine 5. I am not part of Digital Foundry and I don’t have concrete numbers to present to you, but after spending long hours with various games like Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, and now Tekken 8, it is clear that Bandai Namco has raised the bar in graphical quality. The others are very good, excellent, but Tekken 8 is better.
Impressive Gameplay and Visuals
The gameplay in Tekken 8 has been fine-tuned with mechanics like the Heat and Tornado system, combined with the Rage from Tekken 7 to make the fights even more aggressive. In Tekken 8, there is a clear feeling that being still is losing. Yes, you have to protect yourself and avoid attacks, but aggressiveness is rewarded in this explosive gameplay. Despite this even more electrifying gameplay, I confess that the highest peaks of adrenaline were when the gameplay gained more power with the help of the graphics.
