Baldur’s Gate 3 Controversy on Xbox
Baldur’s Gate 3 was the game of the year in 2023, only arriving on Xbox consoles in December.
The game features some rather steamy “romance” scenes, and it seems that some Xbox players were banned for posting them, a situation that did not sit well with Larian.
Michael Douse, head of publishing at Larian Studios, addressed the issue on his official Xbox platform account.
Player Ban Reversed
A Reddit user had his account suspended for a year after recording three videos of Baldur’s Gate 3. Here’s what he had to say: “If I got banned for something I added into the game that violated your terms, that’s on me. But I just recorded the content presented in the game they sold me, using the feature they provided, with the button literally located in the middle of the controller.”
Each video included scenes of nudity and sexual interactions between the game characters. The user’s ban was later overturned, despite Microsoft allegedly denying the original appeal.
We will have to wait and see if Xbox addresses the situation.
