The folks at Ubisoft San Francisco are really feeling the pressure to step up their game with XDefiant, as the higher-ups at the company are not happy with the number of players in their free-to-play title.
According to Tom Henderson from Insider-Gaming, who claims to have spoken to sources at Ubisoft, the company is under pressure to attract more players by the end of Season 3. XDefiant is in trouble as the player numbers just aren’t cutting it, the site reports.
What started off with a bang, with over 8 million players in the first few weeks, has now turned into concern over the drop in active players and in-game spending.
One source mentioned that Ubisoft would be happy with just 200k concurrent players across all platforms, but it seems like they are falling short of that mark.
The goal is to turn things around for XDefiant by the end of Season 3, but the folks at Insider-Gaming aren’t feeling too optimistic, especially with the looming release of Black Ops 6, which is seen as the big FPS competition.
